College Counseling
MSR students emerge thoroughly prepared for the demands of a dynamic, competitive world. And it’s no wonder.
MSR students have independently organized and managed their own complex academic projects, built solar panels, researched and reflected on the nature of knowledge and creativity, secured a real-world internship and experienced real-world workplaces, written and directed a play, designed and launched a start-up, published a cookbook. They've practiced revolutionary thinking, voiced insightful opinions, collaborated with others toward a common goal, exerted newfound independence beyond home and school. Now it's time for the next step in their learning journey...

MSR College Preparation, Grades 9 - 12
The college search and application process is an integrated part of real-life learning— a major life event and a decision that challenges students to make use of all they’ve learned so far, intellectual, social, and emotional. That’s why college counseling begins in Grade 9 at MSR, progressively preparing students for application and admission to their best-fit colleges and universities—those that fit their academic, social, and financial needs. We’re fortunate at MSR to have a collaborative team of faculty and staff that work daily to address the needs of the whole child. Below you will find timelines offering a sample of the topics the MSR college counseling program covers at each grade level.
College Corner, a class for Grades 9 - 10 students, gives them the opportunity to learn about different topics around college planning and career pathways. Additionally, we host admission professionals from colleges and universities. College admission representatives may schedule a visit on Scoir.
Seniors are able to meet on campus with the college counselor weekly and are strongly encouraged to schedule additional virtual meetings as needed.
