We are excited to share an incredible opportunity for families who are seeking to make their education at The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) more affordable. The Opportunity Scholarship helps North Carolina families cover tuition and other required fees and is open to all K12 students. Scholarship awards range from approximately $3,000 to $7,000 based on a family’s household income. Your child’s education is a valuable investment and this scholarship program can help you maximize its potential!
The Opportunity Scholarship application for the 2025-26 school year opens on February 6, 2025. To get started, we encourage you to visit www.SchoolChoiceNorthCarolina.com or connect with Parents for Educational Freedom in North Carolina – both excellent resources for guiding you through the application process.
Additionally, you can create your MyPortal account with the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (SEAA), which administers and manages the Opportunity Scholarship program. Once your MyPortal account is set up and the application opens on February 6, 2025 you will simply log in and submit your application.
For students with an IEP (issued within the last three years), you may also be interested in the ESA+ program. The base level of funding is a $9,000 annual award; students with certain designated disabilities may be eligible to receive a $17,000 annual award. You can find more information about that program here.
If your child currently receives Opportunity Scholarship or ESA+ funding, you do not need to submit a new application for them. However, you must take action to renew their scholarship for 2025-26. You will receive communication from SEAA for how to renew your scholarship. We encourage you to check your MyPortal account weekly so that you don’t miss any information about your child’s scholarship.
