Affording MSR

The Montessori School of Raleigh is committed to supporting a student through their life at MSR as long as there is demonstrated family financial need. Tuition assistance applications are made directly through Clarity. Clarity collects basic financial information on income, assets and liabilities, family size, siblings in tuition-based schools, and any special circumstances. The MSR Tuition Assistance Committee reviews this confidential information to determine a family’s eligibility for assistance. Students and families receiving assistance are also expected to respect the confidentiality of this information.

Timeline for Families

• Clarity opens October 1 for new and returning families to submit their applications for the 2026-2027 school year

• First consideration deadline for returning families is December 8, 2025; first consideration for new families is January 12.

If an award is accepted by the family (by means of enrolling at MSR for the 2026-2027 school year), final 2025 tax documents must be submitted to Clarity on or before June 1, 2026. The Montessori School of Raleigh reserves the right to review 2025 tax documentation and modify the tuition assistance award accordingly. If the tax documents are not submitted by June 1, 2026, the tuition assistance award will be forfeited and voided.

Yearbooks, graduation robes (grade 12 students), on-site PSAT testing, textbooks, local field trips, technology devices in classrooms for students through Upper Elementary, after-school athletics.

Before- and After-School Care, Conference Care, Spring Break and SummerScape Camps, international or other parent-funded field trips, and Bus Services.

Annual Enrollment Deposit
$2,000 deposit for all programs/levels

Application Fee
$100, non-refundable, one-time fee

New Family Fee
$2,000, non-refundable, one-time fee per family, due at the time of enrollment. This fee supports the development of MSR's academic programs and maintenance of facilities.

• $250 for second child enrolled
• $500 for third (and each subsequent) child enrolled

The Comprehensive Fee is the Tuition Balance as defined below, plus any additional charges for enrollment in optional add-on programs and services such as All-Day Miners Care, Before-School Care, After-School Care, Conference Care, and/or bus services. The Comprehensive Fee does not include any additional fees, such as IB and/or AP testing fees, international or other parent-funded field trips, or a student's selective enrollment in additional auxiliary programming such as Studios, Spring Break Camp,  or SummerScape that may be assessed during the school year.

The Tuition Balance is the total amount of tuition for the academic program in which the student enrolls, less any Tuition Assistance or Remission Awards, any applicable discounts, and the Non-Refundable Tuition Deposit already paid.

Comprehensive Fee is due July 1, 2026. 

Enrollment in the Tuition Refund Protection Plan (TRPP) is optional.

Comprehensive Fee is split into two payments: 60% is due July 1, 2026, and the remaining 40% is due December 1, 2026.

Enrollment in the Tuition Refund Protection Plan (TRPP) is required for Option B, with the TRPP fee due with the first payment. 

Comprehensive Fee is paid in installments beginning on June 1, 2026 through March 1, 2027.

There is a 3% administrative fee on the Tuition Balance on this monthly plan.

All payments must be paid by the last day of the month in order for the student's account to remain current.

Enrollment in the Tuition Refund Protection Plan (TRPP) is required for Option C, with the TRPP fee due with the first payment.

Enrollment in Veracross AutoPay is required.

The Montessori School of Raleigh's program expenses, in large part, are budgeted and determined in advance of the start of the academic year. Accordingly, the withdrawal of the student does not materially reduce the expenses of the School. 

The Financially Responsible Party, or "FRP," will be responsible for the following financial obligations if the student withdraws after executing the enrollment contract and: 

• Student is withdrawn on or before April 30: The "FRP" is responsible for the Non-Refundable Deposit and the Non-Refundable New Family Fee. 
• Student is withdrawn between May 1 and May 31: The "FRP" is responsible for the Non-Refundable Deposit, the Non-Refundable New Family Fee and $3,000. 
• Student is withdrawn on or after June 1, but before school starts: The "FRP" is responsible for the Non-Refundable Deposit, the Non-Refundable New Family Fee, and $5,000. 
• Once school starts, the "FRP" will be responsible for 100% of the Comprehensive Fee, unless the "FRP" has opted into the Tuition Refund Protection Plan (TRPP), in which case the provisions of TRPP will apply. 
• The School’s Tuition Refund Protection Plan (TRPP) provides protection from financial loss due to the unanticipated withdrawal of a student (required or voluntary) from the school or the program.

To cancel or make changes to a Studio registration, a written request must be made to auxiliaryprograms@msr.org. Changes to registrations will automatically be charged a $25 administrative fee. This fee will be applied to all cancellations and session changes. Cancellation requests will receive the following refund based on when the request was made:

• At least 30 days prior to the program's start date : FULL refund.
• Twenty-nine or less days prior to the program's start date: NO refund plus the $25 administrative fee.

To cancel or make changes to a SummerScape registration, a written request must be made to auxiliaryprograms@msr.org.

• Changes to any registration, including cancellations, will automatically be charged a $25 administrative fee. This fee will be applied per request to all cancellations and session changes, or at MSR’s discretion. 
• Cancellation requests will receive the following refund based on when the request is made:
  • On or before May 31, 2025—full refund, less the $25 administrative fee.
  • On or after June 1, 2025—no refund will be issued and parents will be responsible for a $25 administrative fee.
