In keeping with the Montessori value of giving back to the community, Middle and Upper School students recently created beautiful cards to contribute to the Historic Oakwood Cemetery's Day of Remembrance.
The student-made cards with their messages of gratitude, hope, and support were delivered by MSR art teacher Linsay Narvaez to Historic Oakwood Cemetery for distribution to Raleigh-area families, first-responders, and last-responders impacted by COVID-19.
The cards were an extension of a memorial event hosted by the Historic Oakwood Cemetery on September 12, for those who have lost loved ones to COVID-19. Free and open to the public, those attending were invited "to participate in the Grove of Remembrance, a place where families and individuals can inscribe a ribbon with the name and memories of their loved one and tie it to the limbs of our crepe myrtle grove in the front lawn."
