The Montessori School of Raleigh graduated its Class of 2022 during a commencement ceremony on Friday, June 3. The tented event took place on the school’s Brier Creek Campus where the graduates, their families, faculty, staff, and friends gathered to celebrate the many accomplishments of the seven graduating seniors and launch them into the next chapter of their lives.
Commencement 2022 began with welcoming remarks from Head of School Monica Rodriguez followed by Middle and Upper School Director Brant Morris highlighting some of the school traditions in which the senior class participated, including the signing of the School Book, the receiving school rings, and others.
Each of the graduates gave their own remarks during the commencement ceremony, sharing reflections on their time at MSR and what it has meant to them. Commencement Speaker and MSR Upper School Faculty Rose Barnett spoke of the many ways she has witnessed the growth of each of the students over the course of the years she has spent with them. She offered a personal reflection on each of the students highlighting their many strengths and what she values most about them.
Congratulatory remarks were offered by MSR Board Chair Krystin Knox before the conferring of diplomas to the graduates. Next came closing remarks by the head of school and a commencement reception.
In the weeks preceding graduation, MSR's seniors completed their International Baccalaureate (IB) exams, enjoyed a special Senior Breakfast, and were recognized during a Senior Capstone Dinner.
