Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Statement

The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) is committed to sustaining a diverse and inclusive community that is reflective of the greater Triangle and we celebrate the unique partnership our families, faculty, administrators, alumni, and board of trustees share.

Enhanced through our community member’s various backgrounds and experiences, we believe that we are our best when we are open to learning from one another and when we emphasize the wellbeing of all members of our community. We recognize the importance of fostering an environment that not only values academic achievement but also prioritizes the emotional and physical health of our students. Furthermore, we are dedicated to preparing students to consider new perspectives, examine their own beliefs, and respond respectfully to the ideas of others.

Composed of faculty and administrators, the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee was formed to ensure DEIB efforts across all grade levels are supported and sustained. Guided by the tenets of peace education, central to Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula, we aim to create a holistic and supportive community where each individual can contribute to and benefit from a comprehensive approach to education and the role they play in the world around them.

In an effort to be more focused and intentional in our work, we have divided our committee into four subcommittees, which are:

  • Policy and Human Resources
  • Professional Development
  • Curriculum and Academic Programming
  • Community and Parent Education

We look forward to you visiting us at MSR and learning more about our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in our community.
