Tennis Coach

Status: Non-exempt; part-time

Supervisor: Athletics Director
Locations: In-person; Williams Park courts (1525 Lynn Road, Raleigh NC 27612), and Raleigh-area matches
Hours: 3:00 - 5:15 p.m., with some matches extending past 5:15 p.m.

The Montessori School of Raleigh is a competitive, independent school in the Triangle area, offering an authentic Montessori and IB program to students 15 months to 18 years. MSR is accredited by AMS, SACS, and the IBO. 

The Montessori School of Raleigh seeks a Tennis Coach for both a Co-ed Grades 4 - 6 team and a Middle School Boys team. Under the general direction of the Athletics Director, the Tennis Coach will work 10 - 15 hours per week during both practices and matches. The Tennis Coach will have a responsibility to transport students to/from practices and matches. 


  • High school diploma required
  • Experience coaching youth tennis

  • Must possess a North Carolina Driver's License with a clear motor vehicle record
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and other members of the MSR community

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend and manage all practices and matches for both tennis teams
  • Provide age-appropriate, developmental coaching to all students
  • Committed to expanding players' abilities
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Ability to keep tennis fun!
  • Drives players to/from practices and matches on school-owned 14-passenger bus

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The Tennis Coach can expect to: 

  • Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Work in outdoor environment
  • Supervise groups of students and regularly engage with parents, staff, and visitors
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
  • Turn, bend, and reach
