The Montessori School of Raleigh delivers an exceptional academic curriculum grounded in Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. Designed to prepare our students to be active, successful adults no matter where their academic journey takes them next, the scope and sequence of our program aligns with Federal and North Carolina educational standards. Our curriculum exceeds those benchmarks at all levels, from our youngest Toddlers through our oldest Elementary students.
MSR promotes leadership, project-based learning, and a strong sense of community through hands-on learning, individualized instruction, small and large group learning experiences, and interest-based skills instruction. Long work cycles allow opportunities for students to explore their creativity, topics of interest, and work independently at their own pace. Our Montessori teachers guide students through the academic sequence while providing opportunities for practice and the application of skills to ensure mastery of the necessary standards.
Our interdisciplinary curriculum is aligned with the most recent educational standards. Specifically trained in their content area, teachers provide grade-level lessons in Spanish, technology, health and wellness, art, theater, music, and physical education. They follow Montessori philosophy by utilizing hands-on materials and activities as well as integrating learning with other academic areas. Students have opportunities to follow particular areas of interest and also master basic skills.
