About Us

Established in 1974, The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) serves children six weeks through Grade 12, guiding them on their journey to become independent, self-aware, critical thinkers.

Through the Montessori method, established by renowned physician and educator Dr. Maria Montessori, and the globally-recognized International Baccalaureate Program, MSR provides students a foundation to become well-rounded global citizens through rigorous hands-on curriculum and real-life experiences.

At the Early Childhood (Infant - Kindergarten) and Elementary (Grades 1 - 6) levels, children build foundational skills as they explore their world and their place in it. In Middle School (Grades 7 - 8) students continue developing as independent learners as teachers guide them through a rich project-based and hands-on curriculum. At the Upper School (Grades 9 - 12) level, students transition to the International Baccalaureate (IB) program where they engage in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, gain real-world experience, and become the leaders in their own lives.

Throughout a child’s MSR experience, through age-appropriate experiences and with guidance from expert teachers, the Montessori Method inspires curiosity and discovery as students engage in self-directed, hands-on, and project-based learning.
