Parents

A successful Montessori experience depends on the relationship between each child, teacher, and parent. At The Montessori School of Raleigh, parents are encouraged to observe classrooms and talk with teachers either face-to-face at parent-teacher conferences or through e-mail. In addition, the school works to help parents understand the Montessori method and school practices through Parent Information Nights, Conversations with Meg, and classroom Open Houses.

Four things all parents can do —

  • Be informed. Attend parent-teacher conferences and all classroom meetings.
Schedule a formal Observation of the classroom.
  • Be knowledgeable. Attend Parent Information programs, the annual open Board of Trustees meeting, and Conversations with Meg. Check out books at the Parent Resource Library. Develop a deep understanding of the Montessori method and how it helps children reach their full potential.
  • Be involved. Volunteer in the classroom and at school events. Talk with teachers and Room Parents for classroom opportunities. For a listing of volunteer
opportunities at school events, click here.
  • Support the school financially. Give to the Annual Fund and purchase MSR Bucks.

The adults in the child’s life form a very important triangle between the child, the school, and the home. All of the adults in that child’s life are responsible for the well being, complete well being, of that child. Physical, emotional, and psychological. And education fits within all those three environments, you know. So we really are responsible to respond to all the needs in all those areas. —Upper Elementary Director
